A Path to Peace

A Path to Peace

Muslim extremists are no doubt a small minority. They are, however, very powerful because, regretfully, majority Arab/Muslim opinion tolerates them. The majority certainly do not share their extremists veiws but the minority thrives on the indifference of the majority.

We must seriously explore why the majority is so indifferent. In my opinion, it is the perception of the majority that United States, Canada and Western Europe do not understand and empathize with the plight of Palistinians. They feel convinced that the western powers are partial to Israel and hence do not empathize with the plight of the Palistinians. Unless this perception of the western powers, in particular, the United States is changed, the majority Arab-Muslim opinion, though themselves moderate in their views, will still continue to be tolerant of the extremist, militant Muslim radicals.

A path to peace lies in quoting the majority, moderate Arab-Muslim public opinion. Without winning their support it would be extremely difficult to crush militants.
